Mind, body and soul in balance

Updated: Mar 8, 2023

Seek balance. Follow the words of Ralph Waldo Emerson, ‘First, be a good animal’ Get enough rest. Drink enough water. Move your body. Feed yourself according to your body type, with enough food, and of the sort that you digest well, and which gives you energy. In addition to meaningful engagement with hard work, humans need both rest and play. Engage in activity which challenges and inspires you (ideally at work or school), but also, spend time relaxing, and with people who make you laugh, and with whom you feel seen and understood. If the spiritual aspects of life interest you, spend time developing your beliefs and practices. If you are agnostic, you can develop strength of mind and character by rooting out cognitive distortions and finding a moral code that you can believe in, and following it. Do these things, and your mental health will thrive.
